Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)

PMAY

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a flagship affordable housing scheme launched by the Government of India. The scheme was initiated with the goal of providing affordable housing solutions to the economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG) in urban and rural areas. Please note that there might have been updates or changes since my last knowledge update.

Components of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana:

  1. Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS):
    • The CLSS component provides interest subsidy on home loans to eligible beneficiaries, making housing finance more affordable.
    • The subsidy is provided to EWS, LIG, and MIG categories, based on their income levels.
  2. Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP):
    • AHP aims to encourage partnerships between public and private sectors for the development of affordable housing projects.
    • It involves active participation from private developers, state agencies, and other stakeholders to create affordable housing units.
  3. Beneficiary-led Construction (BLC):
    • BLC allows eligible beneficiaries to construct their own houses, either independently or with the help of a builder, with financial support from the government.
    • It empowers beneficiaries to make decisions about the design and construction of their homes.
  4. In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR):
    • ISSR focuses on the redevelopment of existing slums by providing basic amenities and constructing pucca houses in collaboration with slum dwellers.
    • The objective is to improve living conditions and provide better housing to slum residents.
