pm kisan scheme

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) is a government scheme launched by the Government to provide financial support to small and marginal farmers across the country. The scheme aims to augment the income of these farmers and ensure financial stability.

Features of PM Kisan:

  1. Financial Assistance: Under PM-Kisan, eligible farmers receive direct income support of INR 6,000 per year. This amount is distributed in three equal installments of INR 2,000 each directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiary farmers.
  2. Beneficiary Criteria: The scheme targets small and marginal farmers who own less than two hectares of cultivable land. The objective is to reach out to the most vulnerable and economically weaker sections of the farming community.
  3. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): The scheme follows a direct benefit transfer mechanism, ensuring that the financial assistance is directly credited to the bank accounts of the eligible farmers. This helps in reducing leakages and ensuring that the intended beneficiaries receive the support.
  4. Online Registration: Farmers can register for the PM-Kisan scheme online through the official PM-Kisan portal. The online platform facilitates easy enrollment and helps in the seamless transfer of funds to the beneficiaries.
  5. Adhaar Linkage: To avail of the benefits, farmers are required to link their Aadhaar numbers with their bank accounts. This linkage helps in the accurate identification of beneficiaries and prevents duplicity in payments.
