Challenges in the World:
- The crisis in Ukraine continues unabated even as new conflict has flared up in West Asia. Traditional and non-traditional security threats are interlocked, and global deficits in peace, development, security, and governance are growing.
- How should we respond to these profound questions raised by the world, by history, and by the times, which challenge mankind to search for answers?
An Opportunity for China and India:
- As Asian civilizations that have been living side by side for thousands of years, China and India share common thoughts on the future and destiny of mankind.
- In the 1950s, China and India jointly initiated the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence, which have turned into basic norms governing international relations.
- With their significant populations and emerging economies, China and India have the responsibility, ability, and opportunity to illuminate the path forward for mankind with Oriental wisdom.
Building a Global Community of Shared Future:
- The vision of a global community of shared futures has been included in the United Nations General Assembly Resolutions for six consecutive years and incorporated in the resolutions and declarations of multilateral mechanisms.
- The vision points towards keeping in the correct direction of economic globalization, following the right path of peaceful development, fostering a new type of international relations, practising true multilateralism, and promoting the common values of peace, development, equity, justice, democracy, and freedom of humanity.
- China has contributed to building a global community of shared futures with initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative.
- With a third of the global population, China and India are natural partners in building a global community of a shared future. They could work together to demonstrate the common will and resolution of the Global South countries to build an open, inclusive, clean, and peaceful world.
